Brambleton physician shines a light on health disparities
Seeing other MD's of color can make all the difference.
(VIDEO STORY) Keeping people healthy is the realization of a childhood dream that Dr. Natasha Simmons-Wyllie gets to live everyday. Something she doesn't take for granted living and working in a community that hasn't always reflected what she sees in the mirror. She hopes to use her voice and her practice to close some of the glaring racial disparities in medicine and STEM that exist in Loudoun County, Virginia and beyond.
I had a chance to chat with Dr. Simmons-Wyllie about her mantra, life’s mission and path to medicine. It's one that includes nuturing each patient - from newborn to 90-years-old - with respect and without bias. She explains in the video below.
